Lithium Battery Saver

The LXS 21 allows you to safely milk every bit of juice possible from a LiPo pack, safely allowing maximum flying time on every flight regardless of changing conditions and flying style changes. When power is connected, the LXS 21's LED briefly flashes to verify it's operating and has gone into its "active standby" mode. On "A/V" models, both a brief flash and audible tone are emitted. During flight the LXS 21 is on "active standby" drawing only a few micro-amps. In "active standby" it continually monitors voltage and what effect the system "load" is having on the pack's health. When the voltage weakens and drops to the preset threshold, the alert is activated which means under that "load" condition you have about 25% of your flying time left. If the load is lessened,the alert will subside until the threshold is reached again. When the alert remains "steady on"... there's nothing to interpret orthink about. You know there's more than adequate time for a safe full power-on landing. The LXS 21 pays for itself time and time again by extending flight times and eliminating any concerns or worry about time running out.

Bright, tough and specialized. Compact ABS enclosed precision onboard instrument specifically designed for monitoring up to 14.8 volt Lithium chemistry battery packs. Comes pre-programmed for all common pack voltages. User programmable in 1/10th v increments over entire range up to 16.0v max. Available in visual only or audio/visual warning alerts. Visual warning provided by daytime in-flight visible single or twin Ultrabright LEDs. Audio for small aircraft is provided by small 86db piezo sounder or larger 110db piezo for large aircraft. "Solid State" SMT components make this instrument rugged, lightweight and reliable for all e-flight type of airplanes, helicopters, vehicles, boats.

 

Don't second guess how much time is left! The most popular battery pack technology for electric aircraft for several years now is Lithium Polymer ( LiPo, Li-Poly). Voltage quite suddenly drops off past a certain point and if not warned in time this often results in disaster, particularly with helicopters. In an effort to prevent power problems, pilots either time their flights or listen for the motor performance to change. ESCs with factory preset "soft" cutouts are typically set to activate at 3v per series cell which often doesn't give enough time to react and land safely. Timing a flight is often inaccurate because of changing conditions and listening for performance change is a nuisance. Flying is much more enjoyable when you don't have to be concerned with anything other than flying and having fun! Isn't that what RCing is all about?
